Telangana Cabinet Approves 30,000-Acre Future City Along Sagar-Srisailam Highways

In a landmark move towards sustainable urban development, the Telangana government has unveiled plans for a sprawling 30,000-acre ‘Future City’ to be situated between the Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam highways. This ambitious project, approved during a recent state Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, aims to establish a net-zero, fourth city that exemplifies modern planning and environmental responsibility.

Establishment of the Future City Development Authority (FCDA)

To oversee this monumental endeavor, the government has announced the creation of the Future City Development Authority (FCDA). The FCDA will encompass seven mandals and 56 villages, with 36 villages transitioning from the jurisdiction of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to the newly formed FCDA. This strategic move ensures focused governance and streamlined development processes for the Future City.

Expansion of HMDA Jurisdiction

In tandem with the Future City initiative, the Cabinet has sanctioned the expansion of HMDA boundaries up to the Regional Ring Road. The State Council of Ministers which met here allocated ₹90 crore for taking up development works in the proposed city. This extension brings 11 districts, 104 mandals, and 1,355 villages under HMDA’s purview, incorporating an additional 332 revenue villages. The expansion is poised to facilitate integrated regional development and improved infrastructure planning.
